Over the last 17+ years, I've lived outside my native United States—in Switzerland, Sierra Leone, the UK, Kenya, and now France—and as a journalist I reported from more than a dozen countries. My time outside my home country has been challenging—and deeply rewarding. More than anything, my experiences have shown me the importance of exploring the world with humility, curiosity, and compassion. And I've learned that we can find deep human connection anywhere—but only if we take the time to look.

In 2024, while working as a journalist, I published The New Tourist, a call for a more responsible and connected form of travel. The response to the book inspired me to shift my focus. In 2025, I stepped away from journalism to tell stories on my own terms — and build something new. Today, The New Tourist is more than a book—it’s a newsletter, a platform for speaking and consulting, and (I hope) a burgeoning community of people who are reimagining, right alongside me, what it means to move through the world with purpose and care.

I'm so glad you found your way here. I hope you might join me.

I’m a travel writer, author, and speaker who helps people move through the world with curiosity, care, and connection.
